GTA 6 Cast and Characters: Who Plays Jason and Lucia, and Who Rockstar Has Confirmed

GTA 6 has two playable main characters, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple pulled into crime across the state of Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. Around them, Rockstar has published profiles for six more characters, and the August Extended Look introduced a few others by name.

Everything below comes from Rockstar's own character profiles, its interviews, or footage Rockstar released. Nothing here comes from unreleased or unconfirmed material.

The two leads

Jason Duval

Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, joined the Army to shake off a troubled youth, and ended up in the Leonida Keys doing what he knows: working for local drug runners. He lives rent-free at one of Brian Heder's properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns. Rockstar's profile frames meeting Lucia as either the best or worst thing that could happen to him.

In LOVE Magazine's October 5 interview, Rockstar's writers described Jason as the reactive half of the pair, someone whose circumstances keep making decisions for him.

Lucia Caminos

Lucia's father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Fighting for her family put her in the Leonida Penitentiary, and luck got her out. She grew up in Liberty City and wants the good life her mother always dreamed of, and she is ready to take matters into her own hands to get it.

LOVE describes her as the first playable female protagonist in GTA with her own voice, backstory and leading role in the dialogue. Writer Alexa D'Agostino said she drew on women she knows, including her own mother, who grew up in Newark near Lucia's hometown, and that the team wanted Lucia to stand alongside Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. IGN's preview adds that Lucia's ankle tag plays a notable part in the story and in how she and Jason are brought together.

Playing as both

• Switching: you can swap between Jason and Lucia at any time while exploring, though switching may be turned off at some story moments (IGN preview).
• Teaming up: play one solo, or call or text the other to join you. In a car, one can drive while the other shoots from the passenger seat.
• Romance is optional. Jason and Lucia start out wanting a relationship. Whether it happens depends on time spent together outside missions, and ignoring each other's texts can hurt it. It brings no gameplay bonus.

Rockstar's supporting cast

These six profiles sit on Rockstar's GTA VI site next to Jason and Lucia.

Raul Bautista

A seasoned bank robber with confidence, charm and cunning, always looking for talent willing to take big risks. His profile warns that his recklessness raises the stakes with every score. Rockstar told LOVE it needed an older mentor to bring Jason and Lucia into large-scale jobs, and Raul is that figure (VICE, RockstarINTEL).

Brian Heder

A drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys who still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori. He is Jason's landlord, and in the Extended Look the couple meet Brian and Lori at a rooftop bar (IGN).

Cal Hampton

Jason's friend and another of Brian's associates. Cal prefers staying home with a few beers, listening in on Coast Guard radio and wondering, in his own words, "What if everything on the internet was true?"

Boobie Ike

A Vice City local legend who turned his street years into a business empire: real estate, a club and a recording studio. The project he cares about most is Only Raw Records, his label partnership with Dre'Quan. In the Extended Look, Jason and Lucia are seen running a job for him (IGN).

Dre'Quan Priest

More hustler than gangster, Dre'Quan always wanted to break into music. He has just signed the Real Dimez to Only Raw Records and is setting his sights on the wider Vice City scene.

Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy)

A rap duo who have been friends since high school, with a big social media presence. An early hit with a local rapper called DWNPLY took them to new heights. Five years and a lot of trouble later, they are signed to Only Raw Records and chasing a second hit.

Also named in the Extended Look

• Valentina: the first GTA Online character confirmed to return. She appeared in the Money Fronts update for GTA Online and, in GTA 6, hires Jason and Lucia as security (IGN; indy100).
• Andrés de León: the VIP Jason and Lucia are hired to protect at a Megamundo party, which armed attackers interrupt (IGN; PC Gamer).
• Petra Navarro: chief operating officer of Megamundo, met at the same event (PC Gamer; GTABase).

Who voices the GTA 6 characters?

Rockstar has not named its cast. Two things are confirmed:

• Stephen Root, known for King of the Hill, told the Associated Press he is in GTA 6. He did not name his role. IGN links him to Brian Heder, whose voice fans recognised in Trailer 2.
• Lucia's actress was praised by writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern in LOVE Magazine, without being named (Forbes; RockstarINTEL).

Names for Jason's and Lucia's actors circulate online. None are confirmed, and we will only add them once Rockstar or the game's credits do.

Are Michael, Franklin or Trevor in GTA 6?

Rockstar has not announced any GTA 5 protagonists for GTA 6. Valentina is the only returning character confirmed so far.
